Ian Gotts joins the judging panel

I have known Ian Gotts for many years and he is without a doubt an exceptional and well seasoned entrepreneur.

What strikes me most is not how successful Ian is at either running a successful technology company or speaking to thousands of audience at a Salesforce Cloudfore conference, it’s the strategic decision he made to move Nimbus to San Francisco, which became the pivotal point for his company. In 8 months, TIBCO acquired Nimbus.

Ian founded Nimbus in 1997 and built the business to a sizeable organisation before moving to San Francisco. He gave away business process analysis and management software free to consultants well before freemium and web 2.0, and built the business on providing services to enterprises using the software. With teaming up with Salesforce from the beginning, gave Ian and his team a great route to market.

In 2011, Ian sold Nimbus to TIBCO and now functions as a Vice President of TIBCO, which is a US quoted provider of infrastructure software for companies to use on-premise or as part of cloud computing environments. Whether it’s efficient claims or trade processing, cross-selling products based on real-time customer behavior, or averting a crisis before it happens, TIBCO provides companies the two-second advantage™ – the ability to capture the right information, at the right time, and act on it preemptively for a competitive advantage.

Ian is also the author of 6 books including, Common Approach, Uncommon Results, Why Killer Products Don’t Sell and two Thinking of… books on Cloud Computing.

He is co-founder of LessAdmin.com which is a web based personal asset management app that has just launched in Beta. It is designed to make manaing assets, tracking projects and assigning jobs easier.

Ian is a prolific blogger with a rare ability to make the complex seem simple which makes him a sought after, and entertaining conference speaker.

Our job as a PR agency is to get exposure for our clients, so we are always looking out for credible awards. Techcelerate attracted us as there aren’t really any start up technology awards in the UK. Ranbir got in touch with us early this year, when the applications for Northern Tech Awards 2012 was announced. She then went on to complete the application form on behalf of her client, My Yard for the Best Enterprise Tech Company award. As their Managing Director, Geetha Thomas could not attend the gala awards ceremony, Ranbir organised Anish Kapoor of Yuuguu at the time to collect the award, if My Yard was announced as the winner.

Jon Bradford joins as Judge for the third year running

Jon Bradford, the king of technology accelerators in the UK and Europe has joined the judging panel to celebrate tech entrepreneurship with Techcelerate for the third consecutive year. We first came to know Jon back in 2009 when he pioneered tech acceleration by forming Difference Engine in the North East of England.

In Dec 2009, Jon presented Difference Engine to Techcelerate tech entrepreneurship community at Tech Centre Manchester. CANDDi who pitched at the event together with Screen Reach who met at after event drinks at Kro bar, became 2 of the 9 tech companies accepted into the first ever Difference Engine. Later, CANDDi has gone to secure funding in excess of £450,000 and Screen Reach in excess of £500,000.

For the second round of Difference Engine, Jon once again presented Difference Engine to Techcelerate community at Tech Centre Manchester, and as a result, recruited Construqtive, which won the Most innovative Tech Company 2012 award last year. Construqtive has raised £100,000 to date.

At the end of the second round of Difference Engine, Jon founded Springboard, an improved version of Difference Engine in Cambridge. The success of Springboard over the years has allowed Jon to setup Springboard London operating out of Google Campus in Shoreditch London.

The success of Difference Engine in the North East saw the formation of Ignite100, the first £1,000,000 tech accelerator programme in Europe. Jon continues to work with Ignite100, as an Executive Director to date.

Jon is also closely associated with Eleven Startup Accelerator in Bulgaria, Startup Wise Guys in Tallinn, and TexDrive in Moscow.

Having judged Northern Tech Awards during the last two years, Jon also delivered the keynote in 2012.

Prior to tech accelerators, Jon was the Investment Manager at the Design and Creative Fund for North East Finance. Prior to that Jon spent ten years working in and around start-ups; both for advisory firms and venture capital backed start-ups, including an Oxford university spin-out. Jon started his career at Arthur Andersen including a secondment to Melbourne, Australia.
